Barefoot was one of the first proper resorts on Havelock and it still reads that way – low-impact, built from local timber and thatch, threaded through natural forest instead of cleared for lawns, and a short walk to Radhanagar Beach rather than sitting directly on it. Cottages are raised on stilts, bamboo and palm-thatch construction, with a tented option for guests who want the glamping version of the same setting. The dive centre and the on-site nature interpretation programme (they run guided walks) are genuine strengths, and the food leans local rather than trying to be a five-star buffet. It's rustic-luxury rather than polished-luxury – no marble bathrooms, patchy wifi in parts – and better suited to travellers who came for the forest and the reef than for spa treatments and room service at 2am.
