Svasara sits close enough to Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve's Kolara Gate that guests joke it would be inside the park if it moved another kilometre. Run by owners Ranjit and Nandita on ten acres of dry-deciduous forest, the lodge keeps to twelve suites so service stays personal — naturalists brief each group before the pre-dawn safari jeep and debrief over high tea after the afternoon drive. Tadoba's tiger density is among the highest of India's reserves, but sightings are never guaranteed; the lodge's real strength is what happens between drives — birding walks, a pool to cool off in the April heat, and dinners at The Teakhouse built around regional Varhadi cooking rather than a generic buffet. Rooms keep a safari-chic register: exposed stone, handloom textiles, private sit-outs facing the forest. Best visited November through April, when the reserve is open and undergrowth has thinned enough for sightings; it closes through the monsoon between roughly June and October. Not for anyone wanting resort amenities beyond the basics — Svasara's focus stays on the forest.
