Dirang Dzong is the older, quieter half of Dirang — a cluster of stone houses and a 17th-century fort above the Dirang Chu river — and these eight duplex cottages are the only proper accommodation inside the village itself. Getting there means parking across the river and walking a hanging suspension bridge, which is either the best part of the stay or a genuine hassle depending on how much luggage you're carrying. The cottages are traditional timber-and-cane builds, compact rather than spacious, run by a female-led local team who cook home-style meals using produce from a small kitchen garden. There's no restaurant menu to speak of and the walls are thin, so this isn't for anyone wanting privacy or five-star service — it's for travellers who want to sleep inside a working Monpa village rather than look at one from a hotel window. Best paired with a night at Awoo Resort or Norphel Retreat for contrast.
