Span sits on a bend of the Beas River in the Kullu Valley, about 40 minutes short of Manali town, which keeps it away from that town's traffic while staying close enough for a day out. The resort grew from a single riverside property into cottage clusters and repurposed owner's residences, some redone by designer Sussanne Khan, so room styles vary noticeably across the grounds rather than following one template. Its river-facing decks and lawns are the draw, not proximity to Solang or Rohtang, both over an hour away and closed by snow from roughly December to May. It works well for weddings and film shoots, which means the property can feel busy and event-heavy in peak season (October, and April–June). It suits couples and families wanting a fixed riverside base with room to spread out; it is a poor fit for anyone wanting walkable access to Manali's Mall Road or Old Manali cafés.
