WelcomHeritage Kasmanda Palace

Mall Road, Mussoorie

  • Heritage
  • Mountain View
  • City Luxury

Kasmanda Palace stands on a quiet hillside directly above Mussoorie's Mall Road, built in 1836 and later bought as a summer residence by the Raja of Kasmanda in 1915 — the magnolia trees planted by Rajmata Vidyawati Devi in the 1920s still shade the three-acre grounds. It's a proper heritage hotel rather than a resort: 29 rooms across the original building and garden wings, a Belvedere Lounge named for a former Yuvraj, and a Magnolia restaurant serving fairly standard Indian and continental fare rather than anything experimental. Rooms range from simple Deluxe categories to Garden Suites with private outdoor space; none are enormous, and the older wing carries genuine wear alongside the character. What you're paying for is the setting — a ten-minute walk to Mall Road, views over the Doon Valley from the lawns, and an actual family history rather than a hotel-group heritage theme. It suits travellers who want to be in Mussoorie town itself and don't mind a smaller, less polished property than the resorts further out.

What sets it apart

  • 1836 palace above Mussoorie's Mall Road
  • Still run with family heritage intact
  • Ten-minute walk to Mall Road shops
  • Doon Valley views from the lawns
  • Smaller, older rooms than resort chains
