Taj Rishikesh Resort & Spa

Taj Rishikesh sits in Singthali village, roughly 30 kilometres north of Rishikesh town along the Ganges, on a river road that narrows and occasionally closes after heavy monsoon rain between June and September. The resort is built low into the hillside in a style borrowed from Garhwali temple architecture — stone, timber and slate rather than glass towers — with most of its rooms and villas facing either the Shivalik hills or the river itself. Its own ghat runs a sunset Ganga aarti nightly, smaller and quieter than the crowds at Triveni Ghat downstream. Three restaurants cover Himalayan, pan-Indian and global menus, and the pool is temperature-controlled for the cold months. Villas with private plunge pools sit at the top of the price ladder; the standard superior rooms are smaller but still river-adjacent. Good for a couple or family wanting genuine river frontage without staying inside Rishikesh's ashram district — less good if you want to walk to Laxman Jhula or the yoga studios, which are a 40-minute drive away.
