Pollibetta Bungalow once belonged to Ivor Bull, remembered locally as the father of Indian coffee planting, and sits inside a working Tata Coffee estate roughly ninety minutes from Madikeri. IHCL's amã Stays & Trails now runs it as a whole-house rental — four bedrooms across an Outhouse Room, a Heritage Room and Luxury Rooms, sleeping up to twelve — so guests get the run of the colonial-era house rather than a shared hotel floor. Coffee here is interplanted with pepper vines, citrus and areca under old Western Ghats shade trees, and the estate staff run cookery sessions, bonfires and a yoga deck rather than a conventional spa menu. There's even a private helipad for guests in a hurry, though most drive from Bengaluru, about six hours, or Mangaluru. This is built for a family or a group of friends taking the whole property, not a couple wanting a standard room. Coffee harvest, November to February, is the most interesting season to visit.
