Run as a Club Mahindra associate resort, Chumbi Mountain Retreat is the largest of Pelling's newer properties — 87 rooms spread through the hillside village of Naku Chumbung, below Pemayangtse and close enough to Khangchendzonga National Park's boundary to feel like an edge-of-forest stay rather than a town hotel. A working monastic structure on the grounds is one of the few genuine cultural anchors among Sikkim's larger resorts. Rooms come in three tiers — Superior, Family and Suite, the last with a sofa bed and heating for the cold Pelling nights — and the property runs four separate dining venues: Golden Bamboo for Indian and Continental, Dynkhang for Sikkimese specialities, a FirePit barbecue and a café. The Mhenlha spa runs detox wraps and sports massages rather than a single signature treatment. Bagdogra or NJP to Pelling is 5.5–6.5 hours by road, with an Inner Line Permit required for Indian visitors; Kanchenjunga is visible on clear days, best October–December and March–April. Better suited to families and groups wanting resort scale than to couples after an intimate stay.
