Mayfair's Gangtok property spreads across a terraced hillside estate about ten minutes by car from MG Marg, at roughly 1,650m. It is the largest luxury footprint in Sikkim's capital: rooms and cottages climb the slope, but the property is known chiefly for its freestanding villas — Crown, Oriental, Royal, Regent, Imperial and Grand — several with their own plunge pools, a genuine rarity at this altitude where outdoor pools are usually a novelty rather than daily use. It also runs the state's licensed casino, drawing a different crowd from the monastery-town hotels further west. Kanchenjunga shows itself on clear mornings, best October to December and March to April; monsoon months bring cloud and occasional NH10 landslides on the Bagdogra–Gangtok run, a 4.5–5.5 hour drive requiring an Inner Line Permit for domestic visitors. Good for a family or group wanting private space and organised activity; not the choice for anyone after an intimate, low-key heritage stay.
