This was once the palace of the Vengunad royal family, built by its Ranee in the 19th century at the foot of the Western Ghats near Kollengode in Palakkad district, and it now operates as a serious Ayurveda hospital rather than a spa-resort. Nineteen rooms sit within the original palace walls; a NABH-accredited clinic with twelve treatment rooms runs the programme, and stays are structured around a physician's assessment, so guests commit to a course of treatment rather than a la carte massages. No alcohol, no meat, and most guests book a minimum of a week. Evenings bring live Kathakali and Carnatic music in the palace courtyard. Coimbatore airport is roughly two hours away. This is for people genuinely undertaking an Ayurvedic cure, not for a short luxury break, a party, or anyone wanting a cocktail with dinner.
