Malabar House
Parade Ground, Fort Kochi
- Heritage
- City Luxury
- Fine Dining
- Adults Only
Malabar House was one of the first heritage properties to open in Fort Kochi in the late 1990s, inside a Dutch-Portuguese era townhouse on Parade Ground, and it stayed deliberately small rather than expanding into a resort. Rooms are built around a courtyard with a compact plunge pool, and the walls carry a genuinely curated collection of contemporary Indian art and Kerala craft rather than generic hotel decor. It's a five-minute walk to the Chinese fishing nets, St Francis Church and the antique shops of Bazaar Road, and the on-site kitchen has a long-standing reputation locally for its Mediterranean-Kerala menu. This suits couples and design-minded travellers wanting a boutique base for exploring Fort Kochi on foot; it's too small and too central for families wanting resort facilities or a pool day.
What sets it apart
- Housed in a Dutch-Portuguese era townhouse
- One of Fort Kochi's original heritage boutique hotels
- Curated contemporary Indian art collection throughout
- Five-minute walk to the Chinese fishing nets
- Long-running Mediterranean-Kerala restaurant on site
