Norbu Ghang Retreat & Spa, Pelling

Pelling, West Sikkim, 2,150m

  • Spa
  • Wellness
  • Mountain View
  • Honeymoon

Norbu Ghang Retreat sits on a garden hillside on the edge of Pelling at roughly 2,150m, distinct from the town's older heritage lodges by being built explicitly around wellness rather than history. Rooms are named after native Sikkimese flowers and graded in three tiers — Super Deluxe, Deluxe and Suite — set in a landscaped garden with bonfire decks and a small gift shop, Khyom, selling local handicrafts. The signature treatment is Men-chu, a traditional Sikkimese hot-stone bath using herbs gathered locally rather than an imported spa menu, alongside massage and rejuvenation circuits. Etho Metho, the in-house restaurant, runs Sikkimese dishes alongside the usual Continental, Chinese and Indian spread found across hill-station hotels. The drive from Bagdogra or NJP runs 5.5–6.5 hours, and Indian visitors need an Inner Line Permit, arranged online or at the border checkpost; Kanchenjunga is visible from the garden on clear mornings, best October–December and March–April, with monsoon months bringing cloud and occasional road washouts. Good for couples wanting a spa-focused stop in Pelling; less suited to those chasing a pool or big-group facilities.
